A listening prerequisite for a complete audio engineering-production education

The A/B CD has 53 tracks of audio recordings that compare the sound qualities created by different types of audio components. It allows audio engineers and producers to experience how, and the degree to which, all of the components in a recording signal path can or cannot objectively affect the resulting sound qualities.

The A/B CD accomplishes this by presenting an accurate, benchmarked sonic study between various competing formats of every component in the signal path of a recording, including: musical instruments, acoustical treatments, different types of microphones and preamps, analog vs. digital recorders, mixers, and processors, Elements of Production, convertors, wiring etc., all the way through to mastering and playback format comparisons.

Since the comparisons were engineered using controlled and verified repeatable methods, they can be relied upon to make better career based decisions, and because all of the components of the signal path are covered on one Red Book standard audio CD, The A/B CD works as an educational listening experience resource because it is free of any critical missing links.
