This track compares one channel of a Mackie 8 buss transformerless mic preamp to another channel of Mackie 8 buss transformerless mic preamp. The purpose of this track is to validate the A/B technique used on this CD to compare the mic preamps and XLR cables. It also highlights the manufacturing consistency of 2 separate channels of Mackie mic preamps. Matched pairs of condenser and dynamic mics were used for the mic preamp comparisons. The matched condenser mics were used on the acoustic guitars, cymbals and percussion. The matched dynamic mics were used to record the drums, the electric guitar amps and the bass amp. All the preamp comparison vocal tracks were recorded with matched condenser mics except the vocals on track 52, which were recorded using matched dynamic mics.

This track compares one channel of a Presonus M80 transformer coupled mic preamp to another channel of Presonus M80 transformer coupled mic preamp. Like track 51, the purpose of this track is to validate the A/B technique used on this CD to compare the mic preamps and to reinforce that validity by using a different type of mic preamp design. It also highlights the manufacturing consistency of 2 separate channels of Presonus mic preamps. Matched pairs of condenser and dynamic mics were used for the mic preamp comparisons. The matched condenser mics were used on the acoustic guitars, cymbals and percussion. The matched dynamic mics were used to record the drums, the electric guitar amps and the bass amp. All the preamp comparison vocal tracks were recorded with matched condenser mics except the vocals on this track, which were recorded using matched dynamic mics.
